Tourism Film Festival

Held in Veliky Novgorod, the Second International TourFilm Festival ‘Kitovras’ has finally revealed the results. Awards saw winners across eleven categories, involving best films all around the world. The Award Ceremony was held in Novgorod Cinema on October 28.
The film ‘Mexico in Your Senses’ by Willy Sousa has left behind 298 films and received the Grand-Prix Award of the Festival. ‘I saw that film and now can say for sure that Mexico is in my senses!’ admitted the Chairman of the Jury Yuri Pesiakov.
There were participating films from 51 countries around the world.
The film ‘Lubelskie - Let the moment last’ (Lublin, Poland) won in the category ‘The Best Commercial Reel up to 90 Seconds’.
Presented by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the film ‘Hong Kong Experiences’ got awarded as ‘The Best Promotional Film on Destination’.
The film ‘Incredible Russia. Veliky Novgorod’ by the film director Natalia Sidorenkova was acknowledged as ‘The Best Film on a Destination’. The crew of ZАО 1HDTV TV company (St. Petersburg) was shooting the film in June 2010. It is worth mentioning that the film coming out in popular 3D has already been awarded as the best one at the first Russian 3D Stereo Film Festival in Moscow.
The film ‘Tsarskoye Selo. Catherine palace’ by Russian Travel Guide documentary television channel won in the category ‘Cultural Tourism’.
The film ‘The Glacier - An Alpine Legend’ (Austria) by the film director Michael Schlamberger got awarded as ‘The Best Film on Adventure Tourism and Sports’ and was acknowledged as one of the best films of the whole festival.
The film ‘Attraction’ also succeeded at the Festival and as a result the film director Sergey Tikhomirov both got the award within the category ‘The Best Film on Religious Tourism’ and concluded an Agreement on shooting tour films series with the Department on Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lipetsk Region. ‘So, these films are needed, aren’t they?!’ exclaimed the film director and thus got a good round of applause in reply.
The film ‘Winter Fruits’ by Bosko Savkovic – the film director and founder of the Serbian Tour Film Festival - was awarded as ‘The Best Film on Health and Ecotourism’. As it was noted by the Chairman of the Jury Yuri Pesiakov, this unusual film is not just about any sort of health resorts at all. It makes us think about the health of our common home - the planet Earth.
The film ‘Meeting - Is it true what they say about... Luxembourg?’ by the film director Thomas Neunreither was awarded within the category ‘MICE - meetings, incentives, conferences, events’.
The film ‘Havenwelten. Bremerhaven’ (Germany) – the film on one of the member cities of the Hanseatic League of New Time - was acknowledged as the best film in the category ‘Following the Routes of the Medieval Hansa’.
And finally, the film ‘Multiadventure in Castilla y León’ by the Spanish film director Enrique Amigo got People's Choice Award. It was the very film that was voted the best one by the Internet-users at the official Festival website.
TravelForLife tourist website presented own special award to the film ‘Palace of Congresses State Complex’ by the film director Dmitry Eroshkin (Saint-Petersburg).
According to the Chairman of the Jury Yuri Pesiakov, this year there is a certain qualitative leap in quantity of the participating films, their quality and the Festival organization itself, comparing to the last year Festival.

Besides, all the Novgorodians and guests of the city get a great chance to watch the best films of the Festival on the big screen and even meet the film winners of the last year Festival. The public screening are held in local cinema ‘Rossia’ on November 8, 16, 23 and December 7, 14, 21. The admission is free for anyone! And, as the Festival motto says, ‘Watch films, vote for the best, travel around the world!’
